John Macko attended Towson State University for two years but found that college did not light his fire. After direction from his older brother Jim, he discovered great satisfaction in the building trade. From a solid Jesuit education John rose quickly in the ranks and became job superintendent in a few short years. In 1989 John and his future wife moved to the Outer Banks to start his own construction company which quickly grew to become the number one remodeling company on the Outer Banks.
Over the past 25 years John and his company have received many accolades and has been a service provider for Andersen Windows since 1992. Macko Construction has since become a preferred contractor for companies such as James Hardie Siding, Trex Decking, LP Smart Side, JELD-WEN Windows and several others.
Living on the Outer Banks John has enjoyed all the benefits of living here such as golf, fishing, boating and hunting. But he most enjoyed coaching his sons, Ryan and Brady, and many hundreds of other boys in Lacrosse and football.
He and his wife, Kelly, are very active in their church and believe that their faith in God has been a big part of their success. They are very thankful and humbled by the gifts God has bestowed on them. Macko Construction also believes in giving back to the community by supporting charities both locally and globally.
John’s favorite part of the construction business over the last 32 years are all the relationships with his subcontractors, suppliers and most importantly with the customers he has become close friends with. John and his associates would appreciate the opportunity to extend our vast experience and knowledge on your remodeling project or new home project. He can be reached at [email protected]
